Hektek up and coming international DJ/Producer from The Bronx, New York started out as a Disc Jockey in the mid 1990's playing music in local neighborhood parties throughout the New York City area. Spring of 1997 while spending time in Miami, Florida listening to the radio he came across a well known local Pirate station WJHH 91.7 FM (Hoodstock Radio) who gave him a chance to guest DJ, and co-host on their station. Back in New York, DJ Hektek had the honer to be introduced to Afrika Bambaataa (Hip Hop, Electro) music pioneer, founder of the Universal Zulu Nation. He was given the opportunity to demonstrate his turntable skills which would later earn him to traveling on tour as a guest to test his craft at clubs in several cities across the United States along side the music pioneer.
1999 was DJ Hektek's first time going on tour overseas to Europe where he played music in Gdansk, Poland and Berlin, Germany catering to large audiences helping gain knowledge and exposure on a international scale. 2000 He returned back to Europe on a 20 city tour as a DJ, crowd hype man playing music at clubs and some of the most well known international festivals.
2004 he was honered to work with in the studio Afrika Bambaataa producing songs "Sally" and "Electro Salsa" featured on The Album "Dark Matter Moving At The Speed Of Light" (Tommy Boy Records). A short time after he went on to produce music for his group Bronxmob "The Bronxmob Album" (Blunt Squad Recordings), King Kamonzi "Timeless" (Blackyard/BPM Records) out of Milwaukee, as well as other local talent.
DJ Hektek could occasionally be heard playing music on WHCR 90.3 FM "True School Radio Show" in Harlem, New York Tuesdays 8pm-12am EST, he also played music on the "Blunt Squad Radio Show" which aired on 3 of the top ranked internet Hip Hop radio stations worldwide. Spring of 2007 DJ Hektek went on tour to Japan with The Bronxmob promoting "The Bronxmob Album" released 3/07 performing at clubs in Tokyo and Santima.
The following year he made guest DJ appearances in several local clubs in New York City, the West Coast of the US and Canada appearing at the 2008 Rock The Bells tour in Boston, Baltimore and New York. DJ Hektek is scheduled to be back on FM and internet radio later this year, he continues to tour rocking parties with the Amenra of Hip Hop Culture and should soon be playing music in a nightclub near you, keep checking out the myspace page for tour updates.
